Purposes of Red Rover and Frontline
Both Red Rover and Frontline serve as the foundation for all budget, payroll, and human resource functions across the SFUSD.
Red Rover is a human capital management (HCM) solution that handles critical functions such as recruiting, onboarding, absence tracking (sick, vacation, etc.,) and time management (timesheets). It is also used to request and manage substitute teacher assignments.
Frontline is a centralized enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform that manages day-to-day activities and tasks related to business processes, including budget development, procurement, payroll processing, benefits, credentialing, and retirement reporting.
Frontline Employee Portal is self-service portal and allows Employees to:
• See and update personal employee data, including address, phone, contact information, etc.
• See job assignments and respective calendars
• See paystubs from July 23, 2025 onward
• See pay withholdings, reimbursements and w-2s/1095s
• See benefits and deductions
• See leave balances and activity
• Supervisors can view the profile of direct reports and any vacancies on their team
Employee Attendance, Time Management (Timesheets), and Substitutes in Red Rover
The vast majority of employees will use Red Rover for absence tracking (sick, vacation, etc.,), time management (timesheets) and substitute teacher requests and management. Accessing Red Rover requires the following:
• A Red Rover account with permissions to access the necessary functions
• Logging in using this link: https://app.redroverk12.com
The ways to access Frontline differ depending upon what tasks you are seeking to accomplish and the type of device you are using.
Employee Portal in Frontline
All active employee have access to the Frontline Employee Portal but a one-time registration is required (see link below) before you can access it. Accessing Frontline Employee Portal requires the following:
• A registered Frontline Employee Portal account (see registration instructions here)
• Logging in using this link: https://sanfranciscoportal.xcoe.online/#/login
Requisitions and Vendor Payments in Frontline
Routine requisitions and vendor payments are typically processed and submitted by school or district office support staff but may be handled by other authorized staff. Accessing Frontline for requisitions and vendor payments require the following:
• A Frontline account with permissions to access the necessary functions
• Logging in using this link: https://sanfranciscool6.xcoe.online/escape/#/sign-in
Budget Development & Reporting in Frontline
The budget development process and related tasks and reports in Frontline are limited to administrators and managers responsible for these tasks. Accessing Frontline for budget development requires the following:
Apple Mac Users
• A login account for VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure)
• A Frontline account with permissions to access the necessary functions
• Logging in using this link: https://vdi.sfusd.edu
Window PC Users
• A Frontline account with permissions to access the necessary functions
• The Frontline Escape software installed on your local computer
