What type of devices can be used for the online testing?
SFUSD managed Chromebooks have been found to be the most reliable SBAC/ELPAC testing devices.
The devices will need to be in kiosk or guest mode (do not log in) and the Secure Testing Browser can be found in the bottom left corner among the grid (or 'waffle') of apps.
There is a minimum version requirement for the Chromebook Operating System that changes each year.
Please check the CAASPP website for this years' minimum required operating system.
For detailed requirements, please visit the link for Technical Specifications and Configuration Guide for CAASPP Online Testing.
Are Headphones required?
Headphones may be required. High School students will likely want to bring their own. If you are purchasing Headphones, be sure they have an adjustable volume control as the Secure Browser disables the sound on many devices. For computer adaptive tests (CAT), Headphones are required for the listening portion of the ELA assessment and for students requiring text-to-speech. For Performance tasks,(PT) Headphones are required for some performance tasks and for students requiring text-to-speech.
The Test Administration Manual provides more detail:

What if we only have one lab to use?
The ratio of one device for every ten students should be sufficient. Prepare a Testing Schedule for each designated test room per AAO guidelines provided to your sites' Test Coordinator. SBAC schedule tool is available on the SBAC Website. If you find you do not have sufficient capacity, submit a Service Request to DoT explaining the need for devices.
What software is required for the Online Testing?
A SECURE WEB BROWSER is required on all test devices. Department of Technology Desktop Support staff and Achievements Assessments Office staff are available for assistance. Devices managed by the District have the browsers assigned and installed remotely. If your Chromebook is managed by the District and up-to-date the Secure Testing Browser will already be installed and available.
There is a minimum required operating system to ensure compatibility and reliable testing.
