Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I use my QTEA (Prop A) Hours for Online Learning?

In short, YES. Online courses from the SFUSD Course Catalogue qualify for the QTEA (Prop A) Professional Development (PD) hours offered to all UESF members. It is important to note, however, that all QTEA PD requires approval from site leaders. Please see the QTEA guidelines for details on how to fill out the passport.

Are these courses only for new teachers?

All SFUSD teachers are able to take courses that are relevant to their instruction! Not sure if the course is relevant to your work? Just reach out to the course instructor (instructor emails are hyperlinked in all course descriptions.)

Is there support for using Google Classroom?

There is absolutely support available. If you generally have ease in navigating online platforms, you might want to try to engage in one of the courses to see what specific questions come up on the use of Google Classroom.

We also offer a course on Basic Skills for Online Learning in a Google Classroom Course. This course is taught through Google Classroom by Tom Mullaney (mullaneyt@sfusd.edu).

You can join the course at classroom.google.com.

The first time you log in, it will ask if you are a student or a teacher; select “I’m a Teacher” even though you will be participating in this course as a student.

Select the + button in the upper right-hand corner, and choose “Join class”
Enter the course join code: a5g7cev

Who should I contact with general questions about the course offerings or QTEA?

With general questions about a specific course, you can email the course instructor directly. All course instructor emails are hyperlinked to their name next to the course description.
