How do I prevent Microsoft updates from causing compatibility problems in Internet Explorer 10 with Windows 7 and Synergy SIS?

Before you run any MS update make sure that you are not installing the update for "Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x##-base Systems ......." (In Windows XP, Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) and 10 (IE10) are not supported so you don't have to do anything.)

How to prevent that Internet Explorer 10 will not install with Microsoft Windows Updates for Windows 7:

1. Click "Start" button, select "Control Panel".

2. In "Control Panel" windows, select "Windows Update".

3. In "Windows Update" window, click on "# important updates are available" link.

4. In "Important" windows, right click on "Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x##-base Systems .......", select "Hide Update".

5. "Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x##-base Systems ......." Will turn greyed out.

6. Click "OK" on "Select updates to install" window.

7. Verify that it is hidden. Click on "# important updates are available" link.

8. The update for "Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x##-base Systems ......." Should not be in the list.

9. If it is in the list then you need to go back to step #4, If it is not continue.

10. Click "OK" on "Select updates to install" window.

11. "X" out of "Windows Update" or you can install updates now if you want.
