Windows XP End of Support Date: July 1, 2014

Windows XP End of Support date: July 1, 2014.

The SFUSD Department of Technology ceased to provide support of computers running the Windows XP operating system effective June 2, 2014

You may order a new computer up to SFUSD standards and with district pricing via this website: https://district.sfusd.edu/dept/it/Lists/Technology%20Purchasing/AllItems.aspx

There are several reasons for the Information Technology Department will no longer be able to provide support for Windows XP:

  • Microsoft stopped support of Windows XP April 8, 2014. Microsoft no longer provides fixes or security updates for any issues discovered after April 8, 2014. DoT is unable to address any issues that come up after April 8, 2014 for which Microsoft did not already provide a fix.
  • Most Web Applications require a more modern web browser such as Internet Explorer 10. The latest versions of Firefox and Chrome will not run on earlier versions of Windows XP.
